Dean, College of Engineering and Applied Science

This is an opportunity for an extraordinary leader to join CEAS. The Dean will have a strong academic record and be widely recognized for thought leadership. He/she will be a respected leader who is operationally savvy, highly knowledgeable of cutting-edge educational approaches, and able to sustain and build a thriving research enterprise. The Dean will also be capable of managing complexity and effectively leading and communicating through the tectonic changes occurring in the academy today. The successful candidate will inherit an exceptional foundation for advancing CEAS initiatives. College academic leaders are aggressively promoting excellence in education and scholarship, research, and providing the highest quality student experience. Working in a strong spirit of collaboration, the leadership team is demonstrating innovation, strong mission alignment, and unified ambition in achieving CEAS goals as reflected in recent success. Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Dean will have the opportunity to shape the College with his/her own vision and programs, leveraging the existing strengths of an already exceptionally strong institution. The successful candidate must be a compelling leader whose passion for the educational, service, and research missions energize the faculty, students, and staff, focusing their efforts on a strategic vision of excellence. He/she must also be a competent and prudent steward of CEAS, guiding it through what will almost certainly be uncharted change in the higher education environment. Importantly, the Dean must be trusted by all stakeholders as a strong advocate for balancing the research, educational, and service missions as well as advocating for inclusion and diversity. The Dean will promote a culture of institutional stewardship and transparency, and a willingness to re-align resources with evolving strategies.
